Abstract Defining and managing integrated urban, river basin climate adaptation plans towards sustainable development, good ecological status as well reduced water-related risk is challenging. Uncertainties regarding the future of cities basins require these to be adaptive. NBS are increasingly put forward relevant measures cope with related risks challenges. However, greening planning in a context risk, requires well-structured decision-making process that enables integration into national, regional catchment processes financing structures. To facilitate this integration, it important connect Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR), Integrated Water Resources Management (IWRM) Climate Change Adaptation (CCA) frameworks, amongst others. Decision-making, however, not one-off action. ensure implementability NBS, necessary take key decisions different steps planning, design management phases.
